Additional Info:

• Full hockey equipment is required including a CSA approved hockey helmet.

• No body checking or rough play permitted.

• The traditional hockey rules are to be followed – Players should call their own faults, ex. if you trip someone accidently, let them take the puck and skate away. The skate monitor will supervise but is not a referee.

• All participants must be fair to one another and allow everyone equal playing time. The skate monitor will help ensure equal and fair play.

• Individuals displaying unacceptable behaviour or who chose not to follow the rules will be asked to leave. This includes the following violations: Dangerous play, body checking/contact, slashing, tripping, fighting, abusive and/or obscene Language or Behaviour, bullying, and Horseplay.

• Parents/guardians are encouraged to remain in the facility for the duration of the program. Parents/guardians are not permitted on the ice.

We have a zero tolerance policy for roughhousing and dangerous play. At the beginning of each shinny session, staff will go through the rules of the program with all players to ensure a safe environment. Skate monitor will be on hand to organize teams if necessary and supervise the program (they are not referees). In order to encourage an informal environment and equal playing time the Skate Monitor will adapt games as necessary and a variety of formats may be used.
